Nicki Minaj Addresses Whether Sheā€™s Really Retiring From Music

Nicki Minaj set the record straight.

In an attempt to clarify her previous retirement announcement, the "MEGATRON" rapper spoke to The Shade Room on her plans to walk away from music for good.

"When I posted that retirement tweet I knew that I still had music that I'd already recorded that was stilling going to come out," Nicki explained. "So, the retirement was talking about my album, meaning do I want to go back and record my fifth album. That's what I was talking about."

She added: "But I knew that, of course, features, I always get asked to do features and I like features. So it was really about the fifth album."

"I didn't know my fans were going to act like that with the tweet," the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper continued. "And it hurt my feelings because the way I did it maybe was insensitive to my fans, but i didn't think people were going to make it that big of a deal. So that's why I deleted it. Because it had like 600,000 likes."

Last month, Nicki shocked fans on Twitter when she announced that she's calling it quits on her decade-long music career. "Iā€™ve decided to retire & have my family," she wrote. "I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, āŒ in the box- cuz ainā€™t nobody checkin me. āœ… Love you for LIFE šŸ˜˜ā™„ļøšŸ¦„."

Hours later, Nicki responded to her fans confusion with an apology, acknowledging that she made a hasty decision choosing to announce her retirement online. "Iā€™m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that," she wrote, adding that "in hindsight" she should have spoken to her fans about her retirement on the radio, however, she plans to do just that soon. "I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe ā™„ļøšŸ™," she shared.
