All Time Low Play Acoustic Set For 'iHeartRadio At Home Sessions'

When 2020 began, All Time Low were gearing up for the release of their first album in three years and subsequent tour, but like so many other bands those plans were thwarted when the coronavirus pandemic began in March. Despite many artists delaying albums, the pop-punk veterans thought it would be "a disservice" to fans if they didn't release new music. In April, they dropped Wake Up Sunshine and are now focusing on how they can safely perform new tunes for eager fans.

On Friday (August 14), the quintet played a stripped down set for iHeartRadio At Home Sessions. The five-song performance comprised acoustic renditions of Wake Up Sunshine tracks ("Sleeping In," "Clumsy," "Monsters") and fan favorites ("Dark Side of Your Room," "Dear Maria, Count Me In").

“It’s a really fun one to sing," frontman Alex Gaskarth said before jumping into All Time Low's latest single, "Monsters." "I’ve been really enjoying playing this one live. This lockdown happened basically before we got to play a lot of these songs from the new album, and now that we’re back together here we’re able to play a lot of the stuff that we never really got a taste of before the record came out, so it’s been really exciting. And you guys get to hear it first, so that’s cool too.”

Aside from the remote performance, the band also chatted with ALT 98.7's Harms about their plans for the rest of the year and why they're all currently residing in Nashville. Gaskarth revealed that they're working on a concert series.

“It’s something we’ve been piecing together and trying to get right — there’s a lot of moving parts to getting this to work correctly — but the goal is, starting with this acoustic livestream, is to launch a concert series throughout the rest of the year since we can’t be on the road,” he explained.

Before diving into their last song, 2007's hit "Dear Maria, Count Me In," Gaskarth shared a sweet message with fans: “We love you all very much, and we hope you’re doing well, staying safe, and taking care of each other in this crazy world."
