Mandy Moore Reveals Heartwarming Meaning Behind Son August's Name

On Tuesday (February 23), Mandy Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, shared the happy news that they had welcomed their first child together. In matching Instagram posts, Mandy and Taylor introduced August Harrison Goldsmith to the world.

"Gus is here," Mandy wrote alongside an adorable photo of her baby boy's hands. "Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith. He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined."

Mandy followed up her announcement with another post on Thursday (August 25) to share the heartwarming reason she and Taylor picked the name August for their son. She posted a photo of a custom-made blanket with her son's name on it to share the anecdote.

"It was last August when [Taylor] and I found out we were having a boy (it’s also Taylor’s birth month) and we always loved the name... so it was settled very early on in our book," she wrote. "Then for our anniversary in November, T gifted me with this blanket with the “A” (for Amanda) made from extra material from my wedding dress and “T” (for Taylor) from his wedding shirt. Felt like a very fitting amalgamation of our whole story. I can’t wait to pass this on to our sweet August one day."

Even though August is just a few days old, Mandy has already started talking about wanting more children. She was even talking about her expanding her family before August was even born. "I have such a deeper appreciation for my body and the fact that us pregnant folks have the capability to do this. It's the coolest thing," she said during an episode of Informed Pregnancy Podcast."I mean, I know that I joke with my husband already. We're not at the end of the rollercoaster ride yet, and like, I'll do this again. I'm so ready to do this again. Even if I was as sick as I was during the first trimester, there is something I think in the third trimester that is so profoundly magical and beautiful."
