#1 Alabama vs. #3 Florida State
It was billed as the Greatest Opening game ever and it did end up being a great game. However, Alabama knocking out Florida State's starting quarterback for the rest of the season plus a long lay off due to a hurricane meant the Seminoles would limp to a 6-6 record. That doesn't take anything away from Alabama's impressive 24-7 win, it just didn't have the lasting impact on the Playoff race like everyone thought it would.
#1 Alabama vs. #19 LSU
The Tide washed out many opponents through their mid season slate. Fresno State, Colorado State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Tennessee all took their lumps as Bama outscored the competition 361-71 which meant the average score was 51-10. That's domination.
When Alabama and LSU meet though, throw the records and stats out because it's going to be a good ol fashioned slobber knocker that goes right down to the wire. The Tide dispatched the Tigers 24-10
#1 Alabama at #18 Mississippi State
Mississippi State is always another one of those teams that plays the Tide tough. 2017 was no different as the Bulldogs went punch for punch with the Tide and had the cowbells clanga-ing louder than ever. It went down to the Final minute but the Tide showed what it takes to be a champion as they got out of Starkville with a 31-24 win.
#4 Alabama vs. #1 Clemson
Despite playing in the past 2 National Championship games, this year's Bama-Clemson matchup came in the first round f the playoffs. Unlike the past two, the winner was never in doubt as the Tide handily won this one 24-6
#4 Alabama vs. #3 Georgia
It was The Master vs. The Student as Nick Saban faced off with former co-ordinator Kirby Smart. This was also the second time the SEC had both teams in the National Championship game. It lived up to the hype as Alabama was shutout in the first half by Georgia before some guy named Tua Tagovailoa etched his named into the history books as he lead the Tide back from defeat to win their 17th National Championship 26-23 over Georgia
