Google Plans To Start Deleting Inactive Accounts Soon

Google is planning on deleting accounts that have been inactive for the past 2 years as "part of an effort to address security risks."

Google will start deleting accounts in December and it'll include Gmail, Google Docs, Google Workspace, Google Photos and other Google products.

“These accounts are often vulnerable,” Ms. Kricheli said, “and once an account is compromised, it can be used for anything from identity theft to a vector for unwanted or even malicious content, like spam.”

Google will start with the accounts that were set up but never used and would first send out notifications to users via Gmail and backup emails that they have on the account. If you want to make sure your Google account is not deleted, Google says you simply would just need to sign into Gmail or any Google service (Google Drive, YouTube, Google Search).
